These are recommended courses for efficiently touring the sightseeing spots of Hahajima with the assistance of guides for visitors with both short and long stay plans.

A casual hiking course

A course that is easy to walk with relatively few slopes. Walk through the forest with endemic subtropical plants such as the Takonoki (Pandanus Boninensis) as well as Birou (Livistona Chinensis) and head to Minamizaki Beach, a place with beautiful corals that lie beneath the clear water. The view from the summit of Mt. Kofuji is magnificent. (Includes transportation until the entrance of the trail)

Apply for a memorial certificate (300 Yen) at the Tourist Association Office before climbing.

Mt. Chibusayama Course@Sightseeing Map 7

Guide fee from 6,500 Yen and above
Guided tours are only available in Japanese.

For visitors who are relatively fit for hiking

Enjoy Mt. Chibusayama that is 463m high (the highest mountain on the Hahajima/ Chichijima archipelagos) while observing endemic plants.
The entire island can be viewed from the summit as well as Chichijima on a clear day.

Apply for a memorial certificate (300 Yen) at the Tourist Association Office before climbing.

Sekimon Course (March to September)@
 
Required time 6 to 7 hours
Guide fee from 10,000 Yen and above
Guided tours are only available in Japanese.

For visitors who are relatively fit for hiking

Tourists must be accompanied by a nature guide of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

The Sekimon Forest is filled with endemic species.
Enter the deep forest of Hahajima to see the precious plants and snails.
There are also lapies made from limestones called Hari no Iwa (needle rocks).

*Entry is forbidden from October to February, which is the breeding season of the Akagashirakarasubato (Columba janthina nitens). Only one section of the route is open in March (the ridge route).

Tourists must be accompanied by a nature guide of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Enjoy a walk in the woods surrounded by subtropical ferns with the sunlight filtering through the trees.

Island Tour

Guide fee from 4,500 Yen and above
Guided tours are only available in Japanese.

Use a share taxi driven by a guide and tour the attractive spots around the island. A course for enjoying from North to South of the island.

What is a share taxi?

This taxi will take you to your desired destination.
There are also island tour courses with guide drivers. (Only in Japanese)
Please be aware they can only be used by reservation.
(Fees apart from the “island tour” is for one person when there are over three people riding)
